About Nancy
Hi! I’m Nancy and I’m so excited that you stopped by to visit our corner of the blogland! We started this blog to show off some of the crafty creations that we are making and some that our friends are creating. We’re called Crafty Rockers because, well, we like our music a little loud! (Actually we like a little bit of everything but our favorite is Rock and Metal!)
I got into crafting when I was tired of seeing the same old things in all the stores. I don’t like to have things that everyone else has and I don’t like to give gifts that could be a duplicate either. That’s no fun!
My latest crafty items are based around my bands. I noticed that not a lot of bands have any “girly” items for sale. I make tote bags and jewelry to sell at our merch table so that the girls will want to come up and buy things too.
I currently live outside of Buffalo, NY with the love of my life, JC. I think we complement each other nicely because he’s my rock when I’m freaking out and I’m the calm one when he’s freaking out.
I sing for the original band Steel Kingdom out of Rochester, NY and also with The Windshield Bugs where one of my besties, Sara, also sings with me. We cover all the songs you love from the 70’s through today!
About Shaye
My name is Shaye. Welcome to our Blog. This is something Nancy and I have brainstormed and talked about doing for years and now we are finally making a reality. I hope you can learn and be inspired to create your own projects (or just admire our handy work).
I have always enjoyed crafting since I can remember. I used to look forward to the summer crafts table my hometown would have set up in the park where I could make boondoggles, pot holders and paint ceramics. I never had a limit on what media I used; I loved and still love it all. I learned to crochet when I was roughly seven by my mother. I learned the basic single crochet and I started making blankets for all my dolls. As I got older, I would find ways to decorate my lockers at school that looked different than everyone else’s with stickers and pictures. I would take my clothes and jewelry apart to create new looks as I had my own style and I had to tweak things to look a little more “ rock like” and my own.
As I got older, I started making gifts for my friends and family. Anyone that has a baby knows they are getting a baby blanket from me. I started making things because I was once at a baby shower and I felt like the generic gift I picked up from someone’s registry wasn’t something they were going to remember and reflect upon. I always have so many projects going that when we moved into our new house, I was “given” a craft room, not for my benefit, but for my husband’s (so he didn’t have to trip over all my projects anymore).
I’m born, bred and raised in Rochester NY , married with two beautiful daughters, have one granddaughter and one granddaughter on the way. I currently work in the fashion industry where I get to covet beautiful creations and fabric often worn by celebrity and high end clientele.
